About CRC
CRC History
In the late 1960s, area clergy and their congregations desired to form a partnership in order to “do together what could be done better than doing it separately”. The Ecumenical Consultation of Christian Churches came from that initial gathering.  The “Consultation,” as it became known, was instrumental in ecumenical dialogue and social outreach.  In 1996, at the request of faith communities other than Christians, restrictions on membership ended and the Consultation became open to all religious communities.

Our Mission Statement:
We are religious communities, sharing a common conviction of the dignity of every person, a concern for the quality of life of both the individuals and the community of our Iowa City Area, including the economic and physical needs of many, and a respect for every person's religious convictions.  We seek, through this Consultation of Religious Communities, to share with and learn from one another, and to work together in efforts of service to the community.
